For my MicroLearning Project, I chose to learn how to use Adobe Express. This is an online design tool that allows to create flyers, posters, Instagram stories and even more complex designs right in the browser.

Learning Theories
The learning theories that can be applied to learning a tool like Adobe Express are Andragogy, Cognitivism, and even Behaviorism.
Andragogy:
- I have background knowledge of other Adobe tools (Photoshop, Illustrator)
- I had strong intrinsic motivation and was self-led
- I could apply gained knowledge in practice immediately
Cognitivism:
- I used quick (chunk size) video guides before I started my first project.
Behaviorism:
- Adobe Express shares some specific keyboard shortcuts with other Adobe tools, so my fingers are already trained to push buttons and get the desired results.

Ah Ha!
I never looked at learning new design tools from the scientific perspective. I can now describe the routine process of learning how to use this or that feature of the tool through what I’ve learned during this course:
- Operant condition – For example if I want to zoom in or zoom out artboard my fingers are pressing Ctrl + Scroll without even thinking about this action.
- ZPD – I know how to do similar things in similar products, so it’s not scary to “jump” into this new product.
- Scaffolding – app has built in tips and advices which pop when you use the feature for the first time.
- Background knowledge – I know tools from Adobe family and it helps to quickly learn the new tool of same kind.
